Broadway, Suite P-Denver, CO 2005 A Jarrett painting was featured and auctioned at the 2005 gala event for The Imagine Bus Project in San Francisco. The Imagine Bus Project is a community arts organization that addresses the lack of arts education and activities in pre-kindergarten through 12th grade by providing art education to children... right where they live. 2005 Jarrett was inspired to create and offer a painting of silver metallic on canvas entitled, "Anniversary" for Equality California's annual gala held in City Hall. The painting was created with a message of hope and to honor the 4000 couples who led the fight for justice in February 2004, and to spotlight the continued struggle for the legal right for equality. 2004 Jarrett was asked to participate in the Hearts in San Francisco fundraiser exhibition. In concept his heart, "A Thousand Kisses, "had a dual meaning: a pronouncement for same sex couples to wed; and an open call for California to legalize same sex marriage. The response to the silver, metallic dripped heart, strategically placed in the Civic Center across from City Hall, was overwhelmingly positive and sold well beyond the targeted auction price. Hearts in San Francisco was a Bay Area-wide “heart installation” that debuted in the spring of 2004. While similar to Chicago’s “Cows on Parade,” the San Francisco version used a heart icon, appropriate for a city that is recognized for its acceptance and tolerance, as well as being perennially open-hearted. The goal of this project was to become a unique hybrid of fund-raising, compassionate community involvement, and a positive nurturing of artistic expression at a time when it is sorely needed. The financial beneficiary of Hearts in San Francisco is the San Francisco General Hospital Foundation, whose sole purpose is to fund projects that will enhance patient care and comfort at San Francisco General Hospital Medical Center (SFGHMC). The goal was to raise $1 Million for SFGHMC. As of February 2005 nearly $2,000,000 in funds have been raised. 2003 after collecting several paintings Jarrett was invited by Danielle Steel to join Steel Gallery, where he is currently represented in San Francisco, and continues the success of expanding a strong collector base. 2002 James Jarrett was featured in an Emmy nominated documentary titled Rediscovering the Labyrinth. The moving documentary is about people whose lives have changed by walking the labyrinth at Grace Cathedral, including the story of how James transformed his life into a fulltime painting career. 2001 Destination Foundation's Tails of the City invited James Jarrett to paint a Microsoft Mouse that was auctioned off at the Tails of the City gala event in San Francisco, CA. Destination Foundation grants dream trips to members of the San Francisco Bay Area community living with a life-threatening illness as alternative therapy to strengthen the mind, spirit, and body, as a response to the dramatic impact that AIDS, breast cancer, and other life-threatening illnesses has had on the Bay Area. 1995 Jarrett paintings featured in METRO Lifestyle Magazine, Article, Shoe Box Chic, pp 6-9. |
